Rachelle Anne Kresch
The Bride

Rachelle grew up in Encinitas, CA and moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley for college and never left. Rachelle loves trail running, hiking, playing soccer, and skiing. She is currently training for her first Ironman Triathlon and is very thankful that Nic feeds her well with his home cooking that he perfected during the pandemic. Rachelle leads Customer Data Science at Autodesk, where she helps Autodesk gain and retain customers.

Nicholas Ryan Fischer
The Groom

Nic grew up in Seminole, FL and went to school at the University of Florida for his BS, MS and PhD. He later lived in Boston and NYC before moving to the Bay Area. Nic is a proud Florida Gator and enjoys volleyball, skiing, and golfing. He loves that Rachelle gets them out of the house for hiking, camping adventures and exploring the world! He currently works at Agtonomy as Head of Autonomy where he is building autonomous electric tractors.

Our love.

Our Story

We met the old fashion way, on a dating app in December of 2016. Our first date was a Monday after work (Rachelle brought her backpack) at Pacific Cocktail Haven, followed by ice skating in Union Square, downtown San Francisco.

Four days later, Rachelle tagged along on a ski trip with Nic's friends. With hours to spare in the car, we discussed how many kids we'd have (though we have both changed our mind since) and our life goals. We knocked out the first few years of dating, all in the first week!

In 2017, we did a lot of skiing together and in 2018, Rachelle took Nic on his first international trip. In 2019, Rachelle experienced some of her first Florida Gator football games. In 2020, we did a lot of hiking, skiing, camping and paddle boarding in Central Oregon. In 2021, we welcomed Archie Briggs to our home in San Francisco. He actually shares the same birthday as Rachelle!

July 4th, 2021, she said Yes!

We had a bucket list of adventures in Oregon to check off including hiking Crater Lake, visiting the Painted Hills, exploring the Oregon Coast, and becoming locals at Mt. Bachelor. The last item on our list was to hike up Broken Top - a collapsed volcano. 3,000 vertical feet later, along a very narrow ridge, Nic proposed. Winded, hungry and slightly terrified of the heights and loose skree; we were engaged!

Looking forward to seeing you!

Things to do

Our best friends
Jolie Kresch
Maid of Honor

Since Jolie is Rachelle's younger sister, she never won board games and certainly never got taken advantage of as kids. Living around the corner has made them closer than ever with weekly dinners and game nights.

Hilary Shafer
Bridesmaid

Hilary and Rachelle have known each other since elementary school but became close friends after their sleepaway camp adventures in middle school. Rachelle wouldn't have survived high school (or really any stage of life) without Hilary!

Mel Hong Paran
Bridesmaid

Mel and Rachelle met in the college dorms. They were the only two who wanted to be on a co-ed floor stuck on the all-girls floor. They spent their twenties as housemates in the best house on Lombard St!

Mike Loffredo
Best Man

Mike and Nic met in Gainesville at UF where Nic would routinely attend Mike and his twin brother's slip and slide parties and pop punk concerts. They're both life-long band nerds and members of the infamous Wildhogs.

Marcus Johnson
Groomsmen

Marcus and Nic were in the same UF grad school lab where Nic often copied Marcus' homework. You'll routinely find them brainstorming startup ideas that someone else always ends up building first or debating if Elon musk is ever able to ship on time.

Justin Parsons
Groomsman

Justin and Nic met in Boston where two UF kids (often in flip flops) attempted to navigate winter storms for the first time. They've traveled the country together from Alaska to the tops of ski resorts to the canyons of Zion.

Mr. Archie Briggs
Ring Bearer

Archie Briggs, named after our favorite spot to decompress in Central Oregon, is Rachelle's running partner in training and Nic's golf caddy.

Questions?

Q: What is the weather like in Santa Cruz in April?

Weather in April in Santa Cruz County is historically mild with temperatures ranging from 51°F - 65°F with low chances of rain. We suggest packing layers, as it is usually warm during the day and chilly at night!

Q: Is the barn heated?

The barn should be a comfortable temperature but we recommend bringing a jacket since the ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside.

Q: Will the wedding be indoor or outdoors?

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors with some provided shade. The reception will be held indoors in the 3,500 square foot barn, with large barn doors that will be open for ventilation.

Q: Will there be a lot of walking?

We highly recommend comfortable shoes. Ceremony will be on grass and guests may also choose to visit the redwood grove via a dirt path. Buses will drop guests off at a convenient location but there is a bit of a walk between cocktail hour and the Barn at the River House.

Q: Do I need to take the shuttle bus?

We strongly encourage folks to take the shuttle regardless of where you are staying as parking is extremely limited at River House, Ben Lomond. Should you choose to drive please allow 45min to get from Santa Cruz to the River House in Ben Lomond.

Q: Do I need to be in the room block at the Marriott Courtyard Santa Cruz to be on the shuttle?

No, all are welcome on the shuttle.

Q: What COVID requirements will you have?

We are requiring guests be vaccinated with the bivalent booster within the last 8 months as recommended by the CDC. Masks will not be required if you meet the vaccination/booster requirement. Guidelines are subject to change and will follow all state and county health mandates if they are necessary.

Q: Does the block hotel allow pets?

Pets will be allowed with a $150 pet fee for your stay. Please notify Rachelle/Nic if you plan to bring your pet as we need to note this in the group details.

Q: I have another question not answered yet!

Gift Registry
We're looking forward to celebrating with you. Having you attend our wedding is the greatest gift of all. However, if you're looking for wedding gift ideas, we've registered for a few things for our home. We are planning a trip to Europe (Nic has never been) and will accept contributions, tips or advice for Europe must sees and dos.
